The season of Advent precedes Christmas and serves to prepare us for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. As this season unfolds in the coming weeks, we are encouraged to reflect on the promises made in the Scriptures about Jesus's first coming to the earth as a baby, as well as to anticipate his second Advent which is still to come.

To bring these themes into focus, our tradition has been to replace our usual 10:00am Eucharist service on the last Sunday of Advent with a service of Lessons and Songs of Advent, in which we listen to a number of Scripture readings interspersed with congregational singing. The songs we sing complement the readings by giving voice to our ever-increasing expectancy as we look forward to Christmas. Following the service on December 18th, we will be having an extended time of fellowship and food as we continue to celebrate at this time of year.
