For the third year now, Men's Ministry is pleased to organize a Season of Service for the men of St James. During this season, we organize a number of different events through which the men of St James can roll up their sleeves and get in the game to serve the church and our community. Service is an essential part of our Christian walk, and provides an opportunity for us all both to live out our faith, and to apply the gifts God has given us to serve others, just as Christ did.
The Season of Service is organized to provide several opportunities for service in diverse ways. The events primarily serve to highlight existing ministries at St James, which allows us not simply to provide men an opportunity to try out serving in these ministries to find out if it is something they would enjoy more often, but it also allows us to recognize and give a break to those faithful members of the community who volunteer their time and effort in these ministries on a regular basis.
Most events require between an hour to an hour and a half time commitment, and no tools or other resources are required; simply show up ready to serve. There is no expectation or commitment to volunteer more time than you have signed up for, though if you enjoy yourself, we would encourage you to pray over whether or not God might be calling you to serve more frequently in a given ministry.
This year, we have multiple events which includes serving meals at the Inn from the Cold, making sandwiches for a street youth outreach ministry, doing a spring cleanup for the church grounds and helping sing hymns at a senior's residence. The events are spread throughout Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons in both April and May, which helps even the busiest man find some free time on his calendar to join in.

All of these ministries provide an opportunity to show the love of Christ for others, and there is no cost associated with any event.
