Men's Ministry

Breakfasts

Throughout Biblical times, the breaking of bread and sharing of a meal was an important practice. For St. James Men, the practice of sharing meals together remains an important point of fellowship, and a way in which we build each other up in our faith, by familiarizing ourselves with the stories of other men in the St. James community. During the months of October, November, January and February, between thirty to forty men gather monthly to hear one man from our community speak in a series titled, “O’ Brother, Who Art Thou?” Each breakfast affords men an opportunity to hear the story who a particular brother in Christ and how God has been working in his life. Our breakfasts, which are paid for by donations thrown into a hat, begin with a catered buffet breakfast. Each gathering allows time for informal visiting around the breakfast tables. After breakfast we lift our voices in song, followed by the speaker who shares his personal story of life and faith. The day ends in a time of prayer, and provides for a social atmosphere in which we come to better know one another as brothers in Christ.

Breakfasts begin with coffee time at 8:00am and breakfast served at 8:30am. The morning is generally finished by 10:30 am. Breakfasts are currently being hosted in the Panorama Room at the Four Points by Sheraton, 8220 Bowridge Crescent NW just off 16th Ave NW opposite Canada Olympic Park.
